Rick Warren On Truth

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth …” (John 16:13)

“If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)

“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” (John 14:17)

"We believe we can learn truth -- I’ve learned a lot of truth from different religions. Because they all have a portion of the truth.” —Rick Warren, (In an interview with Larry King) transcripts can be found

Mr. Warren is very WRONG! Jesus was very clear in stating that HE is the way, the truth and the life. If a religion does not believe in the trinity and that Jesus is God and Jesus died and rose on the third day, then it has nothing to do with truth. If a religion does not believe that faith in the death and resurrectiuon of Jesus Christ and His shed blood is the ONLY way to heaven, and it is in no way by works, then it has nothing to do with truth. There is ONE TRUE GOD. It is the very fact that Jesus is God and was fully human also, that sets Christianity apart from all other religions. Jesus is truth!

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (John 17:20-23)

Too many Christian church leaders, churches, and Christians themselves, are compromising the very Word of God to try to have unity among all religions. Jesus prayed for unity, but He wanted unity first, with the Father God, and if we have that, there will be a unity among all TRUE believers. You can not have the unity Jesus prayed for with other religions that go against the very truths of the Word of God. To do so is to compromise truth!

"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law." (Luk.12:49-53)

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (Jn.14:27)

Peace that is obtained by compromising truth and the Word of God is in fact not true peace at all!

Mrs. Becky-
I was saddened to visit your blog space today, which came to me by a Google alert.

It's a shame you have not investigated any further than your bloging links regarding what Dr.& Pastor Rick Warren believes, teaches, leads, and goes into the world to speak about. He is in complete alignment with the same solid belive in our our Lord and Savior Jesus and every word in the Holy Bible that you have.

Didn't Jesus give us example after example of how we are to go to the sinners, the sick, the poor, the robbers, and the widows? (It doesn't say stay at home, safe in your church yard and hope they show up.) Did HE not talk to them, commune with them, and offer them grace and a path out of their wickedness too? I belive that Jesus is well pleased that not only does Pastor Warren go to these people in their own countries, villiges, offices and homes, but isn't afaid to invite them into his church too. He has been doing that in every country he has visited or been invited to for many years.

It's also a shame that those same co-bloggers cherry-pick parts of stories, falsehoods, and miss-quotes to suite and justify their own ill-understood rants that have clearly blinded many others too.

Aren't we as Christians given the command to go to the "WHOLE" world-with the good news? While Syria and many other parts of our broken world will remain questionable and in many ways wicked till the return of Christ,- should we just stop? I belive we are comissioned to continue reaching out as far and wide, up and down the social scale as we can to spread the Love of Christ and Good News of salvation to as many as we can (including bad Senators, statesmen, selfish rulers, secular movie stars, criminals, etc.) first by listening, followed by loving encouragement to follow Christ.

Please take the time to dig a little deeper, so you don't also become a false wittness and contribute to the self-appointed judges of rightessness who seem to hold all others accountable to their approval. As we know, there is only 1 Father that will judge us as well as award us for a job well done, "... good and faithfull servant".

Nothing is accomplished if it's isn't conceived, acted on, and said in LOVE. I invite you to visit the Saddleback Church family in person, or spend a bit of time at Saddlebackfamily.net, or, catch a special news report on FOX News this coming Sunday on his church out-reach ministry called Purpose Driven. Also, on Christmas Eve and Day, FOX will air Christmas services from the Saddleback Worship center.

In the community of the Body of Christ, a fellow servant.

Ty,
I am sorry if you feel that I stepped on your toes by commenting on Rick Warren. First of all. my opinions of Rick Warren were all ready made long before I discovered the blogs I have linked on my blog. The problem I have with him is his compromise of the word of God. Jesus prayed for unity, but not the kind of unity Mr. Warren seeks. Jesus prayed that we would be one as Him and the Father are one. That naturally falls in to place if we have unity with Christ. For instance, I can not and will not have unity with the Catholic faith because it has teachings that go against the word of God. (purgatory, penance, praying to Mary and other "saints"), If you read the scriptures I provided and really study what he said and what I have said, you will see that I have not said anything other than truth. I do not doubt that Mr. Warren has done a lot of "good things". But, that is all counted as nothing when truth is compromised and the true Gospel is not what is being presented. Yes..you are correct when you say...
"Didn't Jesus give us example after example of how we are to go to the sinners, the sick, the poor, the robbers, and the widows? (It doesn't say stay at home, safe in your church yard and hope they show up.) Did HE not talk to them, commune with them, and offer them grace and a path out of their wickedness too?" Jesus did talk and commune with them, but also BOLDLY told them the truth. Jesus NEVER "beat around the bush" with anyone in an effort to be popular or well liked. What do you think about Rick Warren allowing a Democrat such as Barack Obama speak in his pulpit? I don't think Jesus would be pleased with that. That man openly supports abortion and partial birth abortion! As to not looking any farther into Mr. Warren, I have studied and read plenty about this man. The more I read of him the more I see his straying from the truth to gain popularity and be a leader of the "seeker-sensitive" church. I wonder what the martyrs of the first century church would think of the compromise? They stood for the complete truth no matter what. They gave their very lives. They were beaten, burned to death, beheaded, tortured, and mauled by animals all for the truth of the Gospel and their unwillingness to compromise. There is and always has been a true remnant of believers that are in true unity. That is how the gospel of Jesus Christ survived the dark ages. It is all true believers' duties to boldly proclaim the truth! All throughout history the gospel has been added to and taken away from for many reasons, but the true Gospel has never changed. Just as God has never changed! I am not concerned about being "popular", just telling the truth!
