There is a lot of buzz about Madonna and her mock crucifixion. She puts herself on a large mirrored cross, crown of thorns and all, and sings her song, "Live To Tell". She is quoted as saying," I don't think Jesus would be mad at me and the message I'm trying to send."
I beg to differ with Madonna. If she really understood the meaning of Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection, she would not mock it in such a way. It is a crude attempt to remain popular through publicity. I guess they didn't teach her that in her Kabbalah classes.
I decided to take a look at Kabbalah.com. On one part of the site they talk about how the Bible is full of code and how you can use that code to unlock many secrets to life. Hey, how about reading the Bible and applying that to your life first? Another part of the site,
"that sunlight emanates from the Creator of our universe. We can follow it to its source, and when we do, we discover our own source. When we do, instead of praying to God, obeying God, fearing God, or rejecting God, we become like God."Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me. So, we don't need to obey, pray or fear God? People who are believing this need to be careful. God is a just God. All will stand before Him one day. It is called the great and terrible day of the Lord. For those who serve God and know Him, it will be great. For the rest, it will be terrible. There is a very real consequence for rejecting God. It is called hell. There is one way and that is through Jesus Christ and His death on that very cross that Madonna wants to mock.
As far as Madonna saying Jesus wouldn't mind, I don't believe Madonna would know Jesus if He walked in the room and sat down beside her. In Galatians 6 : 7-8 it says:
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. "
I believe that those who take lightly, the mocking of the cross, need to be aware that they will reap what they sow, and face judgement before their Creator one day!

Madonna is not your everyday pagan. She is in direct opposition to God in many ways but it's like Proverbs 16:2 says, "All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord"(NIV). We can only look at the outward appearance of Madonna's actions and God looks on the heart. I don't have a problem with remembering Christ Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross, that is very good. However, in this performance I don't think the intent was to bring light or glory to God but to Madonna as if she were the Christ.
This is what I find strange. Supposedly as she was performing she had large projection screens showing pictures of impoverished children. At the same time she was singing her lyrics and dressed inappropriately (I mean wearing clothes with intent to draw out the lust of people). Not the typical diving headlong into the pleasures of the world, on the contrary, a strange mixture of moral and amoral messages. Teetering on the fence of the Spirit and the flesh.
Still, it would seem a desire to do good exists in her.
If that is the case Joshua 24:15 says, "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord"(NIV). This sort of hypocrite - that is tolerated - should also be warned, if she will listen, how God deals with the undecided (see Rev. 3:14-19).
In serving God, Paul in 1 Timothy 2:9-11 wrote: "I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. A woman should learn in quietness and full submission." The principle behind this message is not merely for women but calls for being careful to not lead others into sin and to lead others toward righteousness. Then the attention goes to God and not to a person. God is opposed to the proud person who seeks to draw attention to his or her self. It is in line with one consistent message of the Bible and of Jesus that if you humble yourself to God and obey His commands, He will lift you up (1Peter 5; James 4; Mark 10:15; John 14:21; Luke 12:8; etc.). God deserves all the glory and we deserve none.
Well, Madonna will probably never read this blog. In case someone else is thinking about these things, I would urge you to consider what motives drive your actions. Do you seek to lead others to the Truth of God or do you seek to satisfy some selfish desire? Furthermore, know that the Truth is knowable and if you seek Him you will find Him -- when you seek with full commitment to the Truth.
It seems Madonna has some deep spiritual longing. There are many who have been disappointed by a false Christianity and a lack of understanding of who Jesus, the Christ, is. It is no wonder that some celebrities are deceived. This prevalent teaching that you can be "like God" is exactly what the serpent told Eve in the garden. This sort of misleading is common today. The idea that we can be equal to God is false teaching. (Read Luke 21:8-19)
